Blogs have been in existence since late 20th century, with most of them being run by individuals until in 2010 when they changed to platforms where the readers could write comments, to be read by other users or the blog administrators. A tally conducted in the first quarter of 2011 showed that the number of blogs that existed at the time was slightly above 150 million, which increased to around 250 million, later in 2015.
